Purse

My mother is my biggest sewing fan. Anytime anyone mentions anything that I made, she's the first to speak up and let them know that I made it.

So who else would deserve a new handmade bag for christmas?

I made it from this pattern.

Don't mind the toys in the background, I do have kids, ya know :)

This was my second bag from this pattern (here is the first one). So it went to gether pretty easily with no very little problems.

PJ's for SIL

My sister-in-laws birthday was last month and she loves anything pink and comfy.
So, this is what I made her!
It shirt came from Simplicity pattern 8262 (can't find a link for it anywhere!)
The pants came from some random pj bottom pattern I had laying around.

It went together fairly easy except for the collar. This is my second attempt with this pattern and both times I've had issues with the collar. 3rd times a charm? hope so. But not for a while...

My First Sew Along

I love love LOVE every bag in this book. So I couldn't resist joining in my first sew along to make sure I get around to making each one! And instead of joining one, I joined 2 (its the same sew along, just different people to keep me interested and motivated)

So this month is the Cosmo Bag. A big bag, but with 2 kids - I'm sure I'll put it to good use!

I struggled through the first part - picking out the fabric...

Fabric is Calico Dark Aqua Geo Leaves
The fabric is called Carousel Floral. This is going to be the main fabric of the bag.
Its soo pretty and makes me smile just looking at it. Can't wait to have it on my bag!

This fabric is Calico Fabric Heartstrings Sketch Stripe Purple

Now I need to decide which will be the accent fabric and which will be the interior. I can't decide!
Any input? Anyone?

Yes, I'm still here...

Ok, so I fell off the blog wagon for a while..but it was the holiday season and I did alot..does that count for anything? fine...

So here's some things I've been working on:

Old MacDonald Puppets: (tutorial can be found here)

Chicken

Duck

Lamb

Horse

Cow

Pig - he's actually pink :) I'm a horrible photographer

Dog

Cat

24 total puppets for gifts and favors!

They were really easy to make. The most time consuming (and tedious!) thing was cutting all the pieces. But I'm pretty happy with how they came out. But I won't be making any more for a very long time!

Turkey Shirt

I hope you had a wonderful, filling Thanksgiving. Ours, as usual, was very busy and enjoyable.

Audrey looked adorable in her turkey shirt that I made from this

I never got the chance to make Ava's (sorry, baby! - you'll get your Christmas shirt first :) )

My mom and I actually made a shirt/onesie for my niece and nephew, but she hasn't sent pictures yet (hint, hint, Val - if you're reading this!!)

I'll post them whenever I get them!

Happy Halloween - Audrey's Costume

Audrey was absolutely positive what she wanted to be for Halloween..months before it was time.

She wanted to be a Purple Tinkerbell. Which of course doesn't exist, even in the most creative and unique costume stores.

So this was my first year attempting to sew a costume. I got the pattern (Simplicity 2872), got approval (from Audrey) on the proper material and sat down to try a read the pattern.

And it turned out not to be so bad. Don't get me wrong, I spent a good amount of time with my seam ripper, but, I learned a lot and all in all it went together nicely.

I did cheat and bought the wings - those seemed out of my league. They turned out to be horrible and fell over all the time.

But, most importantly - Audrey loved it! She danced around the room for hours when I finished it, I had to hide it until Halloween so she wouldn't ruin it before the big day.

*hint* there's a sneak peak of Ava's costume in this pic!!

Ghost Dresses

It's been a whirlwind of a month, I've hardly had time to post much. But I've got a lot to show off! Be patient, I'll get it all up here soon!

I found the cutest ghost dresses here and I just had to try my hand in it..

Here's how I did (sorry about the pics - its soo hard to keep the girls still!)

They went together so easily and came out so cute, I had to make them for my friends girls....

Next year - pumpkin pillowcase dresses!
